Here's how to post your job to Craigslist:
Click on the Jobs tab and locate the job that you would like to post to Craigslist. Underneath the job, click the Share button.
Under 'Choose a Source' select 'Craigslist' from the drop-down menu. Click Get Link.
Under Source Link you'll see a special link to your job posting. When applicants use that link to apply, you will be able to see that they found you through Craigslist.
CareerPlug will display a job description in HTML format. You will copy and paste this HTML job description to Craigslist to create a job posting that looks organized on computers and mobile devices.
Note: While Craigslist accepts the auto-generated HTML, some job boards do not accept HTML formatting. Be sure to check the specific requirements of other job boards before using the HTML job posting.
Go to www.craigslist.org and sign in if you have an account. Make sure to keep CareerPlug open in a separate tab so you can copy the job link and HTML job posting later.
Confirm that you are using the correct city page for your job posting (if not, use the menu on the right to choose your city).
Choose Post to Classifieds in the upper left-hand corner (below the Craigslist logo).
Under 'what type of posting is this?' select 'job offered' (first option) and click continue.
Choose a Job Category (each category costs a fee, and that fee differs by location) and click Continue.
Note: Some cities may ask you to "choose the area nearest you" as an added step.
Type or copy and paste the job title into the Posting Title field (Please note that there is a limit of 70 characters for this field, so you may need to shorten your job title for Craigslist).
Input in your office location (city or suburb) into the Specific Location field. You'll also need to fill in your zip code.
In the Posting Body section, you'll want to copy and paste your HTML job description directly from CareerPlug.
On the CareerPlug page you still have pulled up, click the Copy Description button to automatically select all text and copy it to your clipboard. Then click into the Posting Body field on Craigslist, right click, and select Paste.
*Please note that you are viewing HTML code. The code will be translated into normal-looking text for you to view on the next page.
Instead of using the HTML that CareerPlug supplies, some hiring managers choose to write a shorter version of the job posting for Craigslist without any special formatting. If you do this, make sure to direct applicants to apply using the 'Source Link' that is on the CareerPlug page you have pulled up so that you can manage your applicants in CareerPlug.
After you've finished pasting or typing your job description, you will need to select Employment Type under Posting Details as well as any compensation info.
Enter your email address into both email fields under the Contact Info section. Next to the email fields, we recommend that you choose 'No replies to this email' (candidates cannot email you) or 'CL Mail Relay' (candidates can email you, but they will not know your specific email address). You do not need to enter your phone number.
The next page will display where your job posting will appear on a map (if you selected the 'show on map' checkbox at the bottom of the previous page).
Here, you can add any relevant images to your job posting.
Craigslist will show you an unpublished draft where you can view the information you input as well as the formatting of the HTML job description.
Once you click publish job, there is one more step. You will receive an email from Craigslist with a link to enter your payment information and to truly publish your job.
